I. The Sons of David (3:1-9)

* Solomon wrote the books of Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, and most of the book of Proverbs.

* Solomon built the first Israelite temple to the Lord in Jerusalem. though his father, David prepared for it. Solomon oversaw the project.

* Solomon is also known for overworking and taxing the nation of Israel to fund the temple, his castle, his wives castle, his extensive gardens, and fortresses on Israel's borders.

* Israel split after Solomon died because his son Rehoboam made a poor decision based on the advice of the young instead of the advice of the elders.

* The LORD God used Solomon in spit of all this faults and sins.

* Solomon is one of the few people in the Old Testament that the LORD God visited, spoke to, and inspired to contribute to the Bible we now have.

These were the clans of the Zorathites. 3 These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma and Idbash. Their sister was named Hazzelelponi. 4 Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These were the descendants of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah and father of Bethlehem. 5 Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah. 6 Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni and Haahashtari. These were the children of Pharaoh's daughter Bithiah, whom Mered had married. 19 The sons of Hodiah's wife, the sister of Naham: the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maacathite. 20 The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-Hanan and Tilon.
